Every time I try to install Kaspersky, It says that I should remove AVG first. I removed AVG and restarted my computer but it still says that I should remove AVG. I checked the programs installed on this computer and there is really no AVG installed.

Whenever you are going to install a program, or do system updates, that you know are safe, you should always disable your antivirus software.
Anti-Virus software can really mess up an install by preventing certain parts of the install process from completing, sometimes without alerting the user.
System updates and program installs are similar in methedology to malware processes and trojan attacks, which is the reason this is the case.

Both are good. I lean more toward Kaspersky, but not by much. I generally turn off my firewall (it interferes with file transfers on my network), but I am behind a router that has a built-in firewall.
